Itinerary

  1. Cagliari

Pick up your rental car and begin your discovery of the island of Sardinia, an island that strikes its visitors with natural contrasts and that guards its old traditions amid wilderness and pure nature.

  2. Cagliari

In captivating Cagliari, a 13th century fortification still surrounds the historic city. Amongst its essential sites are Terrazza Umberto I with splendid views of the Gulf of Angels, San Saturno Basilica and Basilica of Our Lady of Bonaria, patron saint of seafarers. (B)

  3. Cagliari/Barumini/ Emerald Coast (approx. 196 miles)

Near Barumini (approx. 39 miles) there are megalithic edifices of the Nuragic period that are UNESCO World Heritage sites. After visiting the site drive to Porto Cervo on the Emerald Coast (approx. 157 miles). Sardinia's "Emerald Coast," a storied land rimming the island's northern tip, is heralded as much for its celebrity vacationers as for its beauty. (B)

  4. Emerald Coast

Day at leisure. Today Porto Cervo is the symbol of the Emerald Coast, of luxury tourism, of trendy pubs, restaurants and yachts, as well as a privileged place of encounters for international jetsetters. The famous Piazzetta and the small streets that wind through the center of the town are full of boutiques and jewelers. The architecture reflects the typical structures of Gallura and the seemingly simple buildings conceal the finest hotels and exclusive villas. All this surrounded by scenery of rare beauty, where the transparency and colors of the sea are the real protagonists. (B)

  5. Emerald Coast /Palau/La Maddalena Archipelago National Park/Palau/ Emerald Coast (approx. 44 miles)

Today, after approx. 21 miles of road and a short sea crossing, visit La Maddalena National Park, a geomarine protected area consisting of a group of 60 islands. With its 115 miles of coasts, the Archipelago includes some of the most famous and charming beaches of the Mediterranean: in particular, Spiaggia Rosa (or "the pink beach"). (B)

  6. Emerald Coast to USA (or extend your stay)

Drop off your car and say "arrivederci" to Italy or extend your stay.
